NCC Motorhome, Caravan & Camping Show – Excel 14-19 February

Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show 2012 Spring 2012 will see the launch of a new February Motorhome Caravan & Camping Show at London’s premiere exhibition venue, ExCeL London.

The event will be the biggest motorhome, caravan and camping showcase to take place in London for over five years and aims to satisfy the needs of the thousands of campers, caravanners and motor caravanners living across the South/South East of the country and beyond!

The February show, run by the caravan and motorhome industry's exhibition company, NCC Events, will be the only show in the spring where visitors will be able to see new 2012 season models from the UK’s leading caravan and motorhome manufacturers.

Ten year warranties for touring caravans

Swift Group has announced their new 2012 season caravans will come with ‘an industry leading 10-year body shell integrity warranty’. Swift says: ‘By increasing our body shell integrity warranty to ten years we are giving our customers that extra peace of mind.’ The caravan must have an annual service to maintain the warranty - see www.swiftgroup.co.uk
Following suit, Elddis and Buccaneer touring caravans will also come with a 10-year body integrity warranty.

EU award for Fermanach caravan park

Rushin House has become the first caravan park in the UK and Ireland to receive the highly coveted EU Flower Award. The Fermanagh park boasts panoramic views from its touring pitches and spectacular lakeside setting. 95 per cent satisfaction levels for Approved Workshop Scheme

In its first user survey, the Approved Workshop Scheme for motorhome and tourer servicing has achieved high satisfaction levels. Nearly 3,000 caravanners responded to the online survey, after they had used a workshop - a massive 9.5 out of 10 (95 per cent) said they were satisfied with the service received. Coachman develops ‘perfect family tourer’

The 2012 Amara is, Coachman says, ‘the culmination of years of development and our quest to create the perfect family tourer’. The manufacturer will be showing its ranges at the Manchester and Scottish shows, as well as the new Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show at ExCel.

Elddis drives down tourer weights in new models

The County Durham-based manufacturer has undertaken ‘intensive product development’ for 2012 ranges which it claims make considerable inroads into reducing its caravans’ weights. Examples of weight savings are the Elddis Avante 540, which now has a MTPLM of 1412kg, a reduction of 78kg on last year’s model. The 2012 Avante 624 has lost 100kg and now has an MTPLM of1550kg, putting a twin axle caravan in the towing reach of many typical family cars.

Sprite goes light

The new Sprite range, which went on show at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC, is ‘lighter and more affordable’. The brand weighs in at a lightweight 1039kg MTPLM and a starting price of £9910.

Jetta takes Towcar of the Year

The Volkswagen Jetta Sport 2.0TDI DSG took the top honour in its price Class and went on to be voted overall winner of the twenty-ninth Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Competition. It was judged the winner by a panel of 11 judges at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire.

Caravan Channel/Information TV channel number change

Information TV has moved from SKY 166 to SKY 231. The Caravan Channel continues airing on the same days and times, but on a different SKY number and it will continue to be broadcast on Freesat 402. Viewers who have used their SKY box to series-link episodes should find it has followed the programmes to SKY 231 automatically.
