The Caravan Club will be hosting the first ever nationwide Caravanner of the Year competition which will see the Club search caravan parks across the land to find the best of the best caravanners and motorhomers. It will be filmed for a special BBC2 programme due to be aired on BBC2 next year.

There are some special offers for caravanners travelling by ferry from Hull to Rotterdam with P&O Ferries.

Improving CRiS and caravan security with VIN Chip: The NCC has introduced a new and improved theft deterrent for new touring caravans. The theft deterrent and identification system, known as VIN Chip, will also aid the recovery of stolen touring caravans. It will be introduced in September across all new NCC member manufacturers' caravan ranges in the 2016 model year.

VIN Chip is unique and features a specific 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) which will be carried on windows and gas lockers, using tamper evident display stickers. The VIN Chip system, which uses both visible and invisible markings, will also contain hidden electronic RFID (radio frequency identification) chips and embedded Quick Response (QR) codes that are traceable by the police.

Important advice on towing: make sure your caravan is correctly loaded and not overweight, check all tyres and check that you have the right mirrors. Recent police checks along a popular holiday route found a significant number of caravans were not legal - check the latest NCC Caravan Towing Guide for lots of helpful advice.
